I am a bit surprised that I've gotten no response from this list to my
queries, but I noticed something that might have confused folks, so
I'm just going to double-check! We're interested in this programming
in *museums* as well as zoos/aquariums (I missed that in one part of
the message). Here's what I originally sent, with that modification:
We are looking for any information that might be available on Spanish
language programming in MUSEUMS and/or zoos and/or aquariums, in one
or more of these areas:
1) stats on museum/aq/zoo visitation by Spanish speakers,
2) stats on handheld use/ownership/adoption by Spanish speakers (in or
out of mus/aq/zoo)
3) any recent info on cool/unusual language provisioning (for Spanish
or otherwise) approaches in mus/aq/zoos, (particularly things BEYOND
bilingual signage/handouts and audio tour-type translation - the
archives provided many places/programs ya'll think are doing that part
well)
Does anyone know of such (especially #1 and 2) either reports, or
research, on individual sites or multiple? Any leads would be
appreciated. I would be happy to collate and then furnish the list
with a summary of responses.
Thank you,
Katie Stofer
