if someone on staff is going around during an event and taking pictures of individual kids, we have a form that the adult needs to fill out. if they don't want to, we're using digital so it's easy to delete it off the camera right there.

if there's a TV crew or something in the building, we post a sign telling people there is a photographer in the building. If they don't want to be photographed, we give them a bright orange sticker to wear

good luck!

Colleagues:

We're curious about how you handle photography in your exhibit galleries and public areas. We'd like to step up our efforts to post still photos and video on social networking sites, but we do not want to butt up against issues of privacy. Of course, visitors take their own photos and videos that they post, but if we have a staff member photograph others and post the photos, isn't that a violation of presumed privacy?
How have any of your dealt with this issue? For example, do you post a specific message to all visitors that there is implicit agreement that they may be photographed in your institution's public areas? If so, have you had any complaints?
We're very interested in your thoughts.
