So far, I see those involved in the Newark/Nestlé scandal completely frustrated from not being heard by the Mayor. Understandable.
People, the mayor is a politician. Which means that ultimately, he understands two things - money and votes. And since the mayor has made his priorities clear, then make it clear to him that your vote and political contributions will go ELSEWHERE. That you will support whoever puts nutrition, mothers and babies ahead of Nestlé in the next election cycle. Including a primary challenger.
Voter anger has proven to be an effective organizing tool. Mayor Booker is a Democrat. Remind him that reproductive rights are not just about the abortion debate. They're about being free from coercion regarding ALL reproductive choices, including breastfeeding.
So quit trying to educate, get angry and let him know that you vote!! And that as good as you are at organizing your nestle protest, you'll be even better at organizing voters!
