I believe a huge issue is making sure your collections are able to be processed to their fullest extent, all materials washed, catalogued and curated in a responsible and timely way, where colleagues can access the work, and all information is easy to gain without relying on institutional memory. This is often an area where corners are cut, and budgets run short.

I work in CRM, but I have worked in many other types of archaeological projects. I am a curation and collections specialist. I have worked with many collections in labs and museums around the world, bringing them up to levels where they meet this need.

Subject: ethics question

Hello all,
s part of an archaeological ethics course I have been asked to observe and/or
articipate in an ethical conversation on a listserv, forum, etc. I thought it
ould be interesting to poll Histarch with a simple, two-part question:
1) What do you think is the single most important ethical concern for
rchaeologists today?
2) Very briefly, how do you define yourself as an archaeologist? (ie what sector
o you work in, etc.)
Your answers will be used only to stimulate discussion in class, and I won’t
hare any personal or identifying information. Also, please feel free to shoot
e an email off-list if you would be more comfortable doing so.
Thanks in advance to those of you who respond,
yan
