Call for applications
Exhibiting Skills: Exhibition Development for Informal Educators

*         A week-long workshop for people for develop exhibitions about living plants

*         Active, small-group work and collaborative networking

*         Free, and travel and lodging costs reimbursed
The workshop will be held at The Huntington Botanical Gardens in Southern California from November 7 through November 13, 2012.

Overview
Join the Huntington's award-winning exhibition team for the second of five intensive workshops on the fundamentals of plant-based, interactive exhibit development from concept through evaluation. Ten participants will spend a week learning and working in a team-oriented setting surrounded by 120 acres of gardens. This program is supported by a grant from IMLS.
You will gain:

*         knowledge about interpretive planning, the processes that shape living plant exhibitions, and the motivations of museum visitors;

*         skills in developing exhibit criteria and big ideas, writing labels for target audiences, creating prototypes, conducting formative evaluation, and designing for exhibit maintenance; and

*         abilities you need to lead your home institution toward improved practice and a critical approach to living plant interpretation.

How to apply
