  Hello,
Thanks for sharing that article. I actually know the author. His name is 
Alex Wild and he got his PhD here in the Entomology Dept. at UC Davis. 
Super nice and knowledgeable.

Like the ASTC community, he is very open about sharing his techniques. 
He gave an unusual dept. seminar (not your standard research talk) in 
Oct. 2011 about how to take great insect photos cheaply. The video from 
that can be found here.

but it is something.

I highly recommend that you check out his website to see other examples 
of his photography. http://myrmecos.net/
He is a great source for amazing insect images and you can guarantee 
they will be properly identified. We use his stuff all the time in 
exhibits.
