I missed the start of this thread but wanted to share my own recent case. A
mom was referred to me by the OB clinic. She had unilateral severely
cracking areola and nipple (left breast)-- I have pictures! The clinic had
tried a lubricant without success. At first I was stymied until the mom
herself said that she thought it might be connected to her feet... and
showed me her severe fungal infection of all of her toes. AND... her left
middle finger was similarly affected. A trial of miconazole started
clearing it up. It took the whole 6 weeks we had before the baby was born
but it was completely normal by then, thank goodness.

Now if mom had not showed me her feet... would I have noticed her finger,
the obvious route to the breast?
