I know of studies that showed that a pharmaceutical treatment in a mouse model of a human genetic disease worked in mice that were not well taken care of (poor husbandry). But the same drug failed when researchers took better care of the mice. The differences was noticed because one lab (which practiced good husbandry) couldn't repeat the results of the poor caretakers.
