Sorry, Laura, you may be right.  In your work as a Speech Pathologist, I'm sure you have much more experience with this than I.  What I should have said was, "In my years working with women at various stages of motherhood, I have seen many decide to forgo clipping the frenulum at infancy, only to discover later that it needed to be done due to diagnosed problems in speech".  Again, this is not my area of expertise, so I'm sure you're correct in saying that "There is no body of research on the incidence of speech problems in children with tongue tie."  And just a note: I don't tell mothers it might need to be clipped later in life, if it's not done now", or anything of the like.  I merely listen to what she has to say and offer her options (clipping, exclusive pumping, etc.).
