If a pXRF chemical analysis would be useful AND you are coming to SHA at
beautiful, WARM Amelia Island Florida in January.  Dr. Claudia Brackett or I
will do the analysis on the spot FREE as a part of our INNOV-X grant at
either the Archaeochemical Workshop or at the INNOV-X booth.

That goes for ANYONE who needs some FREE pXRF analyses done at the
Conference.  Bring your materials and go home with analyses.

Subject: lead seal question

During this summer's excavation at Michilimackinac we found three lead 
seals, two of which we had not seen before.

The first is a Series A lead seal stamped:
VIALET
   C
...ONTAVEA
   W
on one side and scratched:
31-3/4
3"99
on the other.

The second is a Series C,
stamped D.S.S.&A. on one side and 23 on the other.  Both sides have a 
speckled background.

The context is a fur trader's house, but mixed (1781 - 1929) deposit, the 
result of grading.

Can anyone identify any of these marks?  There are photos available at
