Dear SHA 2010 pXRF Session participants and other Interested Parties

Dr. Brackett and I have received several requests for copies of the
Powerpoint presentations for the SHA 2010 pXRF Symposium from individuals
who either were unable to attend the well-attended session, heard about the
session from other parties and want to have some idea about the new
technologies involved or were only able to hear one or more of the
presentations and would like to, at least, have the Powerpoint
presentations.

In the past, Dr. Brackett and I have dealt with such requests for the
Archaeochemical Workshop presentations or those of the 2006 SAA
Archaeochemical Symposium by either distributing copies of the presentations
on the Archaeochemical Workshop CD after, FIRST, obtaining permission of the
authors to do so with the caveat that the material can "Only be Used for
Educational Purposes" or referring the people to the individual authors so
that they can receive a copy of the Powerpoint presentation or a written
text, directly, from the author.

The concept of Wondjina Research Institute (WRI) distributing a CD of the
various presentations after, FIRST, obtaining permission from the authors to
do so has worked out very well and has led to wide distribution of the
information on the technology contained in the presentations-all at no cost
to the recipient, a goal of WRI's Mission Statement. To our knowledge, this
informal (and non-profit) program of WRI has not led to any abuses or
copyright issues over the four years WRI has had it in place.

If you would like to participate in a program to distribute YOUR
presentation, as Dr. Brackett and I received it, on a CD to ANYONE who
requests it and NO CHARGE OR OBLIGATION to them, please respond by e-mail
to that effect and WRI will place YOUR presentation on the CD that it
normally distributes for the Archaeochemical Workshop AND send it at no
charge or obligation to anyone who requests it.

This program SHOULD NOT be a substitute for YOU submitting YOUR excellent
presentations for inclusion in the SHA Technical Briefs series. As per my
previous e-mail, you can find more information on the Technical Briefs
here: <http://www.sha.org/publications/technical_briefs/default.cfm>
http://www.sha.org/publications/technical_briefs/default.cfm The Technical
Briefs ARE a peer reviewed publication series and they would certainly be an
appropriate venue for many of these papers.

As per the comments and encouragement of the participants and discussants,
WRI will, immediately, begin organizing and sponsor a 2nd pXRF Symposium
session for SHA 2011 in Austin and will soon be issuing a Call for
Presentations for this symposium.

Please feel free to call Dr. Claudia Brackett or myself at WRI's Sonora
California Office number: (209) 532-3873, her CSUS Office number:
(209-667-3551), her cell number: (209-743-9397) or my Arizona cell number:
(928-274-6529) if you have any questions or just want to chat about YOUR
project.

Sincerely,
