I've seen CCD in both CA operations and out-of-state operations in CA.
I have also seen it in northern CA, but there its been mainly in migratory
operations. Not much report from N. California from non-migratory folks.
(Note, when I say migratory, I mean that bees are moved long distances,
some are out-of-state operations coming to CA, others are CA based, but go
out of state for honey crops.
HOWEVER, I have mainly seen CCD in areas where bees are stockpiled for
almonds.
Purely anecdotal, with some knowledge of where the IIV and Nosema thrive -
I strongly recommend that beekeepers STAY out of the wet, damp locations,
areas with frequent ground fog. Not always possible, but majority of
apiaries that had problems last year were in cool, wet areas. I almost always
found early morning fog, or frequent drizzle.
