We're getting a little off-topic, but I wanted to share this. I had a problem with ground hogs (wood chucks) in a remote garden located on rented farm. I inquired at the closest zoo if I could get some tiger manure, or at least the soiled straw from the cage. My thoughts was the smell would keep the ground hogs away.
After a lengthy phone conversation with many, many questions that started with, "Let me get this straight..." the zoo personnel said it would not work. Every week they find a racoon tail in the tiger cage. Even the presence of a live cat isn't enough to deter the racoons, and the only evidence that remains is their tail. They said it won't work on ground hogs either.
