Years ago a rumour got started in these parts that you could keep bears at bay by placing lion dung around your bee yard. The theory was that the bear would smell the lion droppings and say to itself, “ Oh man, that is one big cat. I’m gettin outa here!” I remember at our AGM someone dressed up in a lion costume and was prancing around during the banquet handing out samples.
I've never tried it but you sound desperate. You could also poke a few holes in a can of sardines and place that underneath the lion dung. That might get the bear thinkin', “I smell somethin fishy about these hives….”
Or you could import some lions. Would Florida allow that?
