Frames of foundation mostly. Maybe one frame of comb from a deadout if I have any.

Yes, we only super the original strong hives.  The splits are given queen cells and are managed separately.  The splits are expected to draw comb on the early nectar flow but not expected to produce surplus honey.  The splits will produce surplus if put onto a later nectar flow.  I prefer to super them with stickies after extracting honey from the earlier flow.
