She makes several excellent points in her post.  In the inpatient setting of a children's hospital, I see the ill effects of the "rules" that are either wives tales, medical professionals, mother to mother support or just a great suggestion that is not working for this particular mother baby pair.  I almost always suggest that they keep a log of breastfeeds, wet and stool diapers, weights from PCP office and spit ups/emesis if needed.
