George H. Ruth (1895-1948), from Baltimore, later New York, an orphan
who first master the art of the physics involved in throwing
spherical object at great speed towards a set target, all the while
causing the object to rotate in such a way as to be elusive to strike
by a man protecting the target with a wooden stick. Then as he
reached his mid-twenties, changed approach to the science by working
on striking said spherical objects in such a way that on a regular
basis causing the object fly for great distances.
