Dear Friends:

Could you imagine using any of these remedies being currently discussed for
the man who might have sore erectile tissue after his honeymoon?

Erectile tissue is supposed to be sensitive. If it is numb, it won't work
and it won't feel good.

The literature reports that warm water compresses are the most comforting to
sore nipple while the cause of the pain is discovered. Blair et al. reported
that hydrogel pads were found to be soothing, but didn't resolve nipple
trauma any faster than purified anhydrous lanolin and breast shells. What
works the best is correcting positioning and attachment.

I can't imagine normal saline (0.9% NaCl) being harmful to anyone as it is a
physiologic solution. And could a baby possibly ingest enough salt from a
soaked nipple to cause any problem? Virginia Thorley, will you please
elaborate?

warmly,
Nikki Lee
