Hello,
It looks as though I may be getting an interview at a hospital for a job as an LC. I am IBCLC, but I am not a nurse.  Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should be prepared for in the interview as far as them asking me 'why should we hire you, you're not even a nurse?" Let me add, I am in Massachusetts, which as far as I can tell nearly exclusively hires RN's. Any idea's?

- Department: Maternal Child Health (Labor & Delivery) 
- Part-time    20hrs/week, flexible hours, day/evening coverage 
- Split Shift Day/Evening 
- 3-5 years experience is required 

Provides lactation care and clinical management through systematic problem solving to breastfeeding mothers. Works collaboratively with the patient and other members of the health care team. Conducts bedside lactation rounds. Completes accurate and timely documentation of care including assessment, plan, implementation and evaluation. Plans, teaches and evaluates classes for expectant and new breastfeeding mothers. Currently certified as IBCLC Lactation Consultant. Four years experience in lactation consulting required. Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing and current RN MA license preferred. Equal Opportunity Employer.
