Hi all,
I got news for you all. Even a "lesser" credential does not necessarily mean
creating a profession with less pay. Here in Israel and I am sure in many
other parts of the world, ANYONE who has done ANY course, can hang out a
sign and charge just as much as a seasoned IBCLC who has had the advantage
of years of hands on experience. And they do just that. So, IMHO another
credential will only serve to water down the profession, confuse moms even
more than they are confused today - and I am just not sure who that might
serve, except for an interested examining Board who could potentially make a
lot of money. AND, there is nothing wrong with that, I am not against money
- but have to wonder who will benefit most.
