Hi Rachel,
Just wanted to let you know that after seeing her this afternoon I am not
optimistic about that breast that had radiation being able to produce milk.
There is NO sign of milk production. She was told in the hospital by the LC
that she had colostrum, so I have had her pumping and she will continue for a
couple more days, but the breast is totally soft and I am not able to express a
drop. Her nipple is healing, but I'm worried if she continues pumping without
milk production, her nipple with get worse. We were able to get the baby
latched without a shield!!! Yeah!!! It took some RPS and she defenitely had
decreased edema over the night. So, I am thrilled! The baby transferred 2
ozs. They are doing much better. I did tell her what you had said and I don't
want to give up yet, at least she has one breast that is producing plenty of
milk. Thank goodness!
Laura
