ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.

Moon Memories
On July 20, 1969, Apollo 11 landed on the Moon and the next day Commander
Neil Armstrong became the first man to walk on it’s surface. He said the
historic words, "One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind."
CIENTEC, RedPop and Conciencianew.com/Hispanic Science Newswire invites
your museum to participate in a family history project that will document the
memories of those parents or other family members who witnessed the first
landing via the news. Many people can remember where they were, what they
are doing, and what impact the moon landing had on the lives.
Moon Memories will ask anyone who was born after the moon landing (July
20, 1969), or was too young to remember, to conduct a written or video
interview with a relative, asking them several questions about their memories of
the moon landing and its impact on them. We will provide your museum with
an announcement that can be listed in online newsletters, on fliers, or in
other publicity that invites participation. We will also provide you with
specific instructions to those who wish to participate. We ask that your
museum have a drawing for a modest gift certificate (suggested value of $20)
to your museum shop as an incentive for persons to submit interviews.
After the entries are received, we will ask each museum to post several
entries that will be featured in one or more ConCiencianews.com stories and
on the accesohispano.org website and REDPop websites. Video entries will be
posted on youtube.com.
If your museum wishes to participate, please contact Alejandra or Bob (see
below for contact information) by Friday, July 10:
Alejandra León Castellá (REDPop): [log in to unmask]

REDPop is a network of science centers, media, and science education
projects dedicated to engaging the general public in learning about science and
its importance to society. Alejandra León Castellá is the current Executive
Director for RedPop and also for the CIENTEC Foundation in Costa Rica.
ConCiencienews.com, a project of the Self-Reliance Foundation, writes and
disseminates research-based science news that is important to the
Spanish-speaking people in the United States and throughout Latin America.
