I always like to do the trick where you have them keep their knees straight
and bend over to touch their toes...then tell them to try it with their back
against the wall- You can't stick your bottom out far enough to balance and
you fall over!

I have a mini balance beam I bring along kids love to try out.
Also you can just use a pencil with two index fingers out at the ends and
slowly slide your fingers to the middle to find the center of gravity.

We have a popular make and take balancing project where you fill half a
plastic egg with clay and decorate it like a wobbly clown that doesn't fall
down. Kids will even try getting it to balance on the pointy side!
Hope this helps.
Shannon

I need help in teaching center of gravity / balance concepts to
elementary students. I'm looking for ways to demonstrate finding the
CoG as well as ways that students can display the concept. Any activity
ideas or background information would be greatly appreciated.
