Greetings fellow science educators!

I am putting together an "Archaeological Dig Cart" to accompany our upcoming Cleopatra exhibit (http://www.fi.edu/cleopatra/cleo_tickets.html). The cart would be part of our general floor programming. I am envisioning a small (3'x5') "dig site" that visitors can interact with-- use real tools to uncover pottery shards, bones etc. A few questions: does anyone have any tips for a project like this? Suggestions for the digging medium (sand, plaster, dirt, etc)? Ideas on how to make this a more enriching experience?

I would really appreciate any input or suggestions!

Have a great day,

Liz Kelley
