What I saw as important is that the article states: exclusively
breastfed for 6-7 months and then ate little else. We know that the AAP
recommends EXCLUSIVE breast milk and the addition of infant solids, as
developmentally appropriate, beginning at 6 months. They proceed to say
that breastmilk should be the PRIMARY food through 12 months of age.
Not the ONLY food. The rationale being, to compliment the nutrition of
breastmilk, to begin to learn new oral feeding skills at the
developmentally appropriate stage that will prepare the infant/child for
the ability to take advanced texture foods. Since the foods appropriate
for infants less than one year/complimentary foods are not filled with
vitamin D, obtaining adequate levels are limited primarily to
supplementation or sunlight. This is not a new subject. Maybe the lack
of following aap recommendations should be emphasized instead of blaming
breastmilk. I have offered a link to the 2003 recommendations for
vitamin D...

08 Also, is a link to information regarding vitamin D. The listing of
foods with vitamin D are very few.
