Has anyone else witnessed the practice of flushing drugs down the toilet
when a person dies and the home health care nurse comes to "pronounce"? In
the case I witnessed, the deceased received all of his meds from the
Veterans Administration, and there were a lot of them. Apparently the VA
rule is that the health care giver has to inventory all the meds, and then
flush them. That certainly is a practice that needs changing to help keep
drugs out of our water supply.
