in response to Jeanne "how come the amounts of formula continue to need to increase over time, while breastmilk needs don't? We frequently see artificially fed babies taking 6-8 oz bottles as they get older!" and judy: "The babies I notice taking those huge bottles are not getting many a day, are often only getting 4 bottles a day, so their total intake might not be getting higher mom just puts more in fewer bottles" :

I'm so sorry if the "12 hours of sleep by 12 weeks old" method by suzy giordano, has been discussed before, but I stumbled upon that book at the bookstore this week, in the "parenting" section (I *know* better than to peruse that aisle, for some reason my blood always ends up boiling, but I usually do find some copy of "babywise" to hide or mutilate ;-D ). just flipping and glancing at pages of "12 hours/12 weeks" I think I saw something about getting down to 4 feedings by then. does anyone know if that is bottle feeding only or does she really expect only 4 nursings during those 12 waking hours by 12 weeks old?

thanks,
