While this poor mom undergoes surgery, would it be possible for a type of
hand's free pump to be attached to her and periodically over the 10 hr surgery
could it be turned on for several min even to reduce engorgement? When Reece
talked about the difficulty of IV lines over the chest and going under
sterile drapes, I wondered if this would be feasible and minimally disruptive. It
might take some creative taping and positioning of the collection equipment
but I recall a story of a lactating surgeon who wore one such pump throughout
lengthy surgery. I know the surgeon was upright but even supine might this
be adjusted to work and tried ahead of time?
