Dear ISEN-ASTC-L members:
A few of you have gently suggested that we resume the habit of sending
occasional reminders about basic list guidelines. Here are three things that
come up a lot: 
 
(1)  When you're responding to a message from the list: 
* don't write to the whole list (that's 1,400 people) if you really mean
your message for just the sender
* that means if you have a message like "please send me the report," direct
it to the sender, not everyone
* while appreciating the sentiment, most subscribers don't want to see
"thank you" messages
* delete everything before you write your message -- header, footer, the
previous message (unless there's a part you want to reference)
 
(2) When you're going away for a while: 
* if you are using an automated "away" message, first take a moment to
suspend delivery of list messages
 
(3) It's possible to get listserv messages in digest format
