ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.

But note that science itself codifies and sets standards all the time.
Like the U.S. Constitution, it avoids becoming moribund by leaving in
the possibility of altering/reinterpreting those standards as the
situation warrants.

Just to play the devil's advocate, without having read the
standards.......

Is there any danger to setting standards? One of the things that has
always attracted me to this field is that it hasn't become moribund
through codification. I think Jung once made a comment to the effect,
and I'm paraphrasing, that "once a religion quits growing, it is dead."
So, is there any concern once you codify and certify museum educators?
Just a thought...

I guess my question is, from a philisophical standpoint, how do you
establish 'standards' wtihout becoming rigid. (See: U.S.
Constitution).
