This looks like a carved bone needle case to me.

Subject: Artifact ID help?

This came from a mid 18th to 20th C. farmstead site. It appears to be
carved bone, with a hollow half circle in the center "D" shaped.
There does not appear to be any adhesive residue in the hollow.

Any thoughts?
