It has often happened to me that the best recorded versions of certain
works are also the cheapest.  Christian von Blohn's recording of Widor's
Organ Symphonies Nos 5 & 10 is a case in point.  It comes on the affordable
Arte Nova label, 74321795872.  He plays on the organ of Hildegardskirche
St. Ingbert.  The organ has an intensely beautiful deep sound.  Technically
the recording is of a high quality and the stereo effect is pleasing.
The high point, of course, is the well-known toccata from Symphony No.
5 and this Von Blohn pulls off with aplomb.  You won't be sorry if you
buy this one.
