I recall visiting Utah and observing a number of small log cabins and asking
a B&B keeper about the one in his backyard. He said his great grandparennts
built it and folks often transported them to other locations because they
were pioneer houses. He said in addition to the family cabin, he bought a number
of them from the Forest Service and BLM on federal land and hauled them by
flat bed truck to property where he could rent them out to tourists.
Apparently, some federal agencies manage their historical resources by auctioning them
off to the highest bidders.
