There are many studies on irradiation for bee diseases, especially AFB.
One of the better resources is:  Eric Mussen, Extension Apiculturist,
Univ California at Davis 95616 (916-752-0470).  Also look in Bee World
1984 p.88; and J Apic Res 22:196 (1983); and Am Bee J 123:652 (1983).
It appears ton be an expensive mode of treatment and I doubt if anyone
is using it commercially now.
