But having mom's cancer risk reduced and naturally spacing babies benefit
babies too. (I'm reminded of Flylady's assertion that "housework done poorly
still blesses your family" -- not that I agree that breastfeeding with
benefits-to-mom in mind is less valuable breastfeeding.) If mom weans
because her motives are called into question, the baby loses those benefits.
Goodness, the notion of a good mother necessarily being a martyr is
certainly alive and well!
