Hi All,

Thanks to everyone for their comments about the baby expo dilemma I
unexpectedly found myself in. So - where are we 12 hours later? Well - I
am not looking at it as a dilemma anymore - I am looking at it as an
opportunity to use my personal ethics to EDUCATE the general public. :-)

I got a call from the expo director and we discussed the issue. She is
totally for BF and thinks that ABM is yucky and should only be used for
emergencies and when there is no breastmilk available. She even told me
about a friend of hers who adopted a baby and was grossed out that she (the
expo gal) encouraged her to get donated breastmilk. OK - that is all fine
and dandy but I did express my confusion over why she would choose to have
the ABM co there. It's all about business - they needed the money and she
also feels that since ABM is everywhere it wasn't a big deal to have them
there either - women are smart and those who have brains (her words not
mine!) will go to my booth because they will KNOW I have the better
'product'. Don't get me started on that. I suggested that since she has
the right to decide who will be a vendor and who will not that maybe next
year she would consider being Baby Friendly and NOT have ABM co there.that
by having them there she is implicitly endorsing and promoting formula use.
She said that was an interesting point and that she would seriously consider
it. :-) She did thank me for the link to WHO.

So my plan is to have LOTS of info on formula recalls and the risks of using
ABM. I want to have Diane W. info there as well as many other NORMAL
breastfeeding informational handouts. I plan on having LLL information as
well as info on the group I am associated with (Mother's Support Network)
where I hold my Breastfeeding Mom's Support Group. I need help with finding
a concise list of formula recalls - the longer the better :-) - and I need
help finding the links that give details on the issues with so called
organics, probiotics and ARA/DHA additives. Of course I will also have my
products for sale, as well as another LC (my back up who is great!) working
the booth with me. She worked with me at the last big expo I was in a few
weeks ago and we were a fabulous team! It was a lot of fun too.tho VERY
tiring!

So, thank you everyone - all your help is greatly appreciated!

Warmly,

Jaye
