Hello Max, I have 500 lbs of magnetic stainless 100 micron steel spheres
made for toner movment, they don't seem to produce much dust. Maybe your
dust problem is from oxidation. 
 This material produces beautifull detailed magnetic field patterns. If you
think these would work in your exhibit I will send some. I have been
attempting to use this material to image a magnetic field in 3D in mid air.
