Stethoscopes, tubular earphones--------- In a hospital setting, the main "problem"
that his gets around is the Safety Review Board's electrical leakage test.
Unless someone pours saline or plasma down the ear tube, there is no eletrical hazard
to the patient. Small speakers in the pillow would also work. There is a hygiene
problem here for public use in a museum.
Small loudspeakers run at low power near the expected head position of the visitors
is a good idea and probably beats out "acoustic lasers" and other exotic sound sources.
Speakers are really very cheap, expendable commodities unless you must have Klipshorns!
Most sound system designers are versed in area coverage and obtaining adequate power levels.
You need to shift gears for exhibits.

PS Klipshorns are the original high efficiency, low carbon footprint Loudspeakers. Twice the
coverage at half the power!
