Meira Warshauer's Yishakeyni To Be Performed by Jerusalem Lyric Trio in
Columbia, South Carolina on November 11 and Wilmington, North Carolina
on November 12

Meira Warshauer's Yishakeyni (Sweeter than Wine) for soprano, flute
and piano will be performed by the Jerusalem Lyric Trio on Sunday,
November 11 - 3:00 PM in the Lorick Auditorium of the Columbia Museum
of Art, Taylor and Main Streets in Columbia, South Carolina and on Monday,
November 12 - 7:30 PM in the Cultural Arts building recital hall on the
campus of University of North Carolina, 601 South College Road in
Wilmington, North Carolina.

The piece is a setting of the first four verses of "Song of Songs," the
great love song of the Bible.  "Yishakeyni" was commissioned by Columbia
College in memory of David and Lee Baker and premiered by the Jerusalem
Lyric Trio in Columbia, South Carolina, September 2003.  The work won
the Miriam Gideon award from the International Alliance for Women in
Music.

The November 11 program is presented as part of the Baker & Baker
Concert Series and is free with museum admission or membership.  For

The Jerusalem Lyric Trio is a unique Israeli ensemble that highlights
the religious and cultural heritage of the Jewish people in its performances.
Since 1995, they have performed throughout Western and Eastern Europe,
the United States, South America, Russia and Israel.  Visit them online

Meira Warshauer's compositions have been performed and recorded
to critical acclaim throughout the United States and in Israel, Europe,
South America, and Asia. A graduate of Harvard, New England Conservatory
of Music, and the University of South Carolina, Dr. Warshauer studied
composition with Mario Davidovsky, Jacob Druckman, William Thomas McKinley,
and Gordon Goodwin. She has received numerous awards from ASCAP as well
as the America Music Center, Meet the Composer, and was twice awarded
the Artist Fellowship in Music by the SC Arts Commission (1994 and 2005).
In 2000, she received the first Art and Cultural Achievement Award from
the Jewish Historical Society of South Carolina.  Dr. Warshauer is a
Visiting Lecturer at Columbia College, Columbia, South Carolina. Her
CDs include Streams in the Desert, oratorios for orchestra, chorus and
soloists on Albany Music, Yes! for clarinet and orchestra on Perspectives
with MMC Recordings, and Revelation for orchestra, included on the MMC
CD Robert Black Conducts. Her music is published by Oxford University
Press, MMB Music, World Music Press and Kol Meira Publications. Her
Symphony No. 1: Living Breathing Earth received its premiere by a
commissioning consortium in Spring 2007. This project is detailed
