Hello, ASTC Hive-Mind:

A colleague who, I gather, is planning to build a cyclotron, inquired
whether we might be able to identify sources for the following:

1) An inexpensive vacuum pump that is able to attain a vacuum
pressure of at least 10^-4 torr.
We need a vacuum pump that is capable of attaining a pressure of at
least 10^-4 torr, we need a single pump and a diffusion pump in
conjunction with a roughing vacuum pump. What type and model of pump
is irrelevant, as long as it can maintain the necessary pressure.

2) Laboratory grade soft iron in the dimensions of as close as
possible to 52 cm X 11 cm X 11 cm.
This is for the electromagnet core.

3) 160 lbs (72.5 kg) AWG 14 (or lower) enameled magnet wire.

------

I am relieved to note that she is not inquiring after high speed
centrifuges. If you have any ideas about where she might locate the
above, please contact me offlist.
