ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.

I'm glad discussions of evolution or other SCIENCE topics happen on a
listserv for Science Centers.

What concerns (and often annoys) me about the recent hubbub are two
things:

1) The "echo chamber" aspect of the discussion. If you're working in
a Science Center and don't accept evolution, no amount of discussion
on this listserv is going to convince you otherwise. If you're
working in a Science Center and already accept evolution, you are
literally "preaching to the choir."

2) If the topic stayed on evolution, or evolution contrasted with
creationism, that would be one thing. But this thread veered around
to offer opinions on faith healing, the supposed primacy of Christian
thought in the history of science, and dung-covered art objects. If
I am told to just push the delete button on such postings, I think it
is equally valid to suggest that such blather be directed to a more
focused forum area separate from the main ASTC listserv.
