It is my understanding the cornerstone/time capsule for the White House has
been lost for at least 150-years. Attempts by the National Park Service to
relocate the cornerstone have failed. Some seem to think it was lost during
renovations for President Franklin Roosevelt during the 1930s.

Just after 9/11, the City of San Diego found a "suspicious-looking box" near
an old residential neighborhood. After making a big fuss with fire engines
and ambulances, lots of sirens and flashing red lights, the bomb squad came out
and blew the box behind a mound of sandbags. In a puff of smoke, hundreds of
pages of letters written by elementary school children in the 1930s floated
to the ground.
