Hmmm, IIRC, I took astronomy and earth science classes around 7th + 8th
grade - High School was when the hard core bio/chem/physics kicked in.

Granted, this was so long ago that in astronomy we learned about the 6
planets in the solar system. Is that how things still go today,
schedule-wise?

Just curious,

A front page story on the SacBee (Sacramento) is "Fewer Than 10% of
California HS Students Take Classes in Earth, and Solar System Studies",

earth sciences. <http://www.sacbee.com/101/story/104449.html>
