One other point: falsifiability. When Eric S wrote that children's 
demand "prove it!" should be part of definition of science for 
children I should have responded that the appropriate demand should 
be "disprove it!" for  answers to questions should be able to be 
disproved to be scientifically acceptable (this is the difficulty 
with supernatural explanations of the natural world they cannot be 
disproved).
