 CALL FOR PAPERS FOR SHA 2007 - to be held at WILLIAMSBURG VIRGINIA

The fiftieth anniversary of the founding of Disneyland in California
(2005) provides an occasion to present a series of papers that relate
to the connections between history, archaeology, and the phenomenon of
Disney themes parks. The Disney park system has grown over time and
now includes locations in Europe (two parks), North America (six
parks), and Asia (three parks). Given the dynamics of the
globalization of culture, the phenomenon of Disney theme parks takes
on a special significance for the twenty-first century. We expect to
have papers that relate to a wide variety of topics including, but not
limited to; the relationship between reality and theme park concepts;
extant archaeological features; analysis of memorabilia; and the role
of changing ideology in park attractions.
