Dear Friends:
    Barbara asks for rationale for giving formula to a  newborn that has been 
prescribed antibiotics. The neonatologist in a NICU where  I work has said 
that babies need high volume to reduce the chances of side  effects; in 
particular, gentamycin which can have ear and kidney damage as an  untoward effect.
    But there is no evidence about this......
