I was reading an issue of BBC Music Magazine and ran across a report
that certain composers literally cause nausea upon exposure to certain
individuals, and was wondering if any Listers experienced that sensation
in their lives.

For my part, I remember well when I first heard particularly strong
sounds in my youth, and indeed felt nauseated. While some took many
years to get used to, eventually everything sounds OK to me from that
standpoint now. Two pieces in particular I remember. At about age
eight, I put on an old 8-inch LP of Nathan Milstein playing Bach's
Chaconne solo, and immediately felt woosey. About three years later,
I put on "Mathis der Maler" and had the same reaction. Sopranos did
the same thing till I was in high school. Of course now Hindemith is
one of my favorite composers, but there must be a physical explanation
some one will come up with one of these days!

I hope few out there STILL have reactions after years of exposure, but
the BBC snippets indicate that some listeners do.
