Well I was at a conference today where I knew it was likely that formula manufacturers would be sponsors. Indee there were 5 (out of maybe 10 exhibitors) who were code breachershanding out all sorts of wonderful pieces of paper and stuff (bottles "medically proven to be close to breastfeeding", breast pump, toddler formula samples etc) There were no talks about breastfeeding at this conference.
I gave my presentation and also gave my disclaimer at the end "My participation at this conference does not apply approval for the practices of conference sponsors that breach the WHO code on the marketting of breastmilk substitutes" A few people actually clapped!
I'm glad I went. My presentation was well received and obviously helpful to people. I'm glad I made the disclaimer. Thankyou to the people who helped me sort this out!
