With this baby, we
are encouraging not only exclusive breastfeeding, but also pumping so she
could stockpile extra milk in preparation for weaning. So at the time of
weaning her body will be over-producing. I think that this will impact the
rate of involution, don't you?

My experience that I think to in this situation is different, but yet
applies in terms of drying up. I've dealt with more than one mom whose baby died
suddenly, so was at full production of milk with frequent nursing, who had a
remarkable shut down of production quite quickly (within a few days) with
large quantities of sage ingested daily. With 3 to 4 weeks to accomplish
involution, I would think it would be just as possible and if medication were used
instead of, or in addition to herbs, drying up well should be possible. No?
