Hi

A friend of mine had a blood incompatibility with her baby. One of her
other children suffered severe dairy and peanut allergies and she knew that
her milk tended to come in late, and that her baby would need feeding early
because of the jaundice, and that her baby may be separated from her to be
under lights.

she expressed her colostrum antenatally and stored it in 5ml syringes, and
went to hospital with about 100mls of colostrum expressed in 5 ml lots.
When baby seemed to need extra, his feeds were always colostrum. She also
expressed and breastfed (when he was allowed out from under the lights) and
her baby never had to have any formula.

The paeds didn't exactly get enthusiastic about her plan, but no-one put
obstacles in her way, and she was encouraged to breastfeed. (Everyone
thought the baby would HAVE to have formula)

The jaundice wasn't as severe as the paeds had expected, but they didn't
attribute that to the antenatal expressing. Just good luck.....
